Raising money for the Cairns Hospital and Hinterland Health Service
Why I'm participating:
As a long-term heart patient, fundraising for heart services in our region is something I am very passionate about. I am stunned that because of the little bike ride I suggested to Glenys so many years ago, has made such a difference to so many people. When the ride first started, there was just ONE cardiologist at Cairns Hospital. Now there are eight. With everyone's support, the health service is now in a position that we will soon have electrophysiology in Cairns. In 2003 I had open heart surgery in Townsville because the experts discovered I had a hole in my heart the size of a 50c piece. My next aim is for us to have cardiac surgery here. It is traumatic enough, having to have heart surgery, without the added trauma on yourself and your family of having to travel away. Please support me while I keep riding to Cooktown and keep fundraising to fix hearts in FNQ.
